Nuclear Waste Management Specialist

ISR is looking for an individual with over 10 years experience in radioactive material and nuclear waste management. This experience should include knowledge of low level, intermediate and spent fuel waste. This experience should also include waste characterization and/or planning for decommissioning and disposal.

Experience within the CANDU industry is an asset. Experience in project management and technical writing are mandatory.

Bilingual candidates are preferred.

Bilingual Nuclear Engineer

ISR is looking to hire a qualified bilingual intermediate to senior professional who has experience working on projects for the nuclear industry in areas such as health physics, radiation safety and operational management, human and organizational factors, operational radiation protection and environmental assessment and management.

Some of the anticipated duties would include:

  • Assist with the development of project work packages such as studies, assessments, reports, deliverables, budgets and schedules;

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in Nuclear Engineering, Engineering Physics;
  • Minimum 10 years experience in a nuclear power plant environment working in radiation protection, nuclear safety, operations, or environmental program management;
  • Ability to think independently and provide insight and solutions to complex problems;
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with other technical and non-technical disciplines, customers and regulators;
  • Experience writing technical reports and environmental impact assessments;
  • Experience in radiation safety and emergency response is considered an asset;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, MS Project, Powerpoint;
  • Candidate must be eligible for a government security clearance;
  • Candidate must be fully bilingual;

Senior Project Manager (Science – Radiation / Nuclear Engineer)

ISR is currently looking to hire a highly motivated individual with strong leadership qualities who has extensive practical knowledge of technical project management.

Some of the anticipated duties include:

  • Project planning, management and scheduling;
  • Direct co-operation and supervision of engineers, scientists and technicians;
  • Technical writing and review;
  • Project quality assurance;
  • Technical leadership and guidance

Qualifications (minimum):

  • Undergraduate degree in science or engineering;
  • Project management experience, following a formal project management methodology;
  • 10- 15 years experience in technical project management;
  • Conversant in radiation and nuclear safety;
  • The ability to work with a production team in a leadership role;
  • Candidate must be an innovative leader;
  • Ability to think independently and provide insight and solutions to complex problems;
  • Ability to liaise between internal staff and clients;
  • Candidate must be eligible for a government security clearance;
  • Must be willing and able to travel internationally;
  • Bilingualism (English and French) would be considered a MUST;
  • Experience in the nuclear industry would be an asset

Emergency Management/Response Specialist

ISR is currently looking to hire a highly motivated engineer/scientist/emergency planner with emergency management experience.

Some of the anticipated duties would include:

  • Project planning, management and scheduling;
  • Preparing emergency response plans; and
  • Writing emergency response "concept of operation" documentation.

Individuals with the following qualification are encouraged to apply:

  • B.Sc. degree in engineering or scientific discipline or a college degree in other discipline with experience in emergency preparedness, nuclear physics or related fields;
  • 10 years of emergency preparedness and response experience;
  • Experience developing and implementing radiological and nuclear emergency response plans and procedures;
  • Ability to think independently and provide insight and solutions to complex situations;
  • Bilingualism is considered an asset;
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance through PWGSC; and
  • Must be willing and able to travel internationally.
